The latest baby African penguin, known only as 53, joins Oscar and Duffy as the latest additions to the aquarium’s African penguin colony.
Duffy hatched on Nov. 2 and Oscar followed five days later, the aquarium’s staff announced. Both are African penguins, which are classified as critically endagered.
Two African penguin chicks have been born at Adventure Aquarium in Camden. Their birth comes as the species faces increased threats in the wild due to habitat loss and environmental factors.
