29 years ago, the Mostar Bridge, also known as Stari Most, was destroyed by a barrage of shelling from Croat forces during the Bosnian civil war. Originally built in 1566 by the Ottoman Empire, the bridge was rebuilt in 2004 in collaboration with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), UNESCO, the World Bank and IRCICA.
